Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our team at SCMV Options @ Jackson High School. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, civic responsibilities, and cultural diversity while fostering critical thinking and analytical skills. This full-time position offers an opportunity to engage with students in a dynamic environment and contribute to their overall academic growth and development.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Teach a variety of social studies subjects, including history, geography, government, and economics.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters respect for diverse perspectives.
- Assess student progress through assignments, projects, tests, and other evaluation methods, providing timely feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences and participate in faculty meetings and professional development.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding academic progress and behavioral issues.
- Incorporate technology and multimedia resources into lessons to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities related to social studies, such as clubs, field trips, and community service projects.
- Stay current with educational trends and best practices in social studies education and continuously seek opportunities for professional growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for the appropriate grade level.
- Previous teaching experience preferred, but not required; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of social studies content and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Proficient in using technology for teaching and classroom management.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
