Teacher Aide
The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting in gathering educational information on prisoners at their intake into the prison system. The Aide will assist in the coordination, administration and interpretation of academic/vocational tests, and will provide academic/vocational counseling to prisoners. This position is responsible for creating and collecting data for the prisoners’ education records. The Aide receives general supervision; works within established methods, policies, procedures, and oral instructions;
and uses independent judgment to select a proper course of action. This position is sited within the secure perimeter of a state correctional facility, and requires daily contact with and supervision of prisoners.
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience Requirements- Teacher Aide 6:
No specific type or amount required. - Teacher Aide 7:
One year of experience equivalent to Teacher Aide 6. - Teacher Aide E8:
Two years of experience, including one year equivalent to Teacher Aide 7.

All employees must meet these ethical standards and all appointing authorities are obligated to enforce these ethical standards.
The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
