Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join SCMV as the Dean of Students. This full-time position is integral to fostering a positive and inclusive campus environment that supports student success and engagement. The Dean of Students will oversee student services, advocate for student needs, and collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance the overall student experience. This role requires a strong commitment to student development, crisis management, and community building.

• Develop and implement programs and initiatives that promote student engagement, retention, and success.
• Serve as a primary advocate for students, addressing their concerns and facilitating communication between students and administration.
• Oversee the student conduct process, ensuring fair and equitable treatment while upholding institutional policies and standards.
• Collaborate with academic departments to support students’ academic and personal growth through workshops, counseling, and mentoring programs.
• Lead efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the student body and broader campus community.
• Coordinate with various campus departments to provide resources and support services, including mental health services, academic advising, and career counseling.
• Manage crisis situations involving students, providing support and intervention as needed.
• Monitor and assess student satisfaction and engagement through surveys, focus groups, and other feedback mechanisms.
• Develop and manage the budget for student services, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior administration on student issues, trends, and program effectiveness.

• Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field;
  Doctorate preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in student affairs or related roles within a higher education setting.
• Strong understanding of student development theories and best practices in student services.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Proven ability to handle crisis situations and provide effective support to students in distress.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in data analysis and assessment to inform decision-making and program development.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
