Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at JPS Jackson High School as a Teacher Assistant. This full-time position involves supporting classroom teachers in delivering high-quality education to students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students succeed academically and socially, and will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities- - Assist classroom teachers in planning and implementing daily lessons and activities.
- - Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as needed, helping them understand and complete assignments.
- - Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
- - Prepare instructional materials and resources to enhance classroom learning.
- - Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students.
- - Support the integration of technology into the classroom by helping students use educational software and tools.
- - Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- - Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- - Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
- - Perform administrative tasks such as grading assignments, maintaining student records, and organizing classroom supplies.
- - High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- - Previous experience working with students in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
- - Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning and development.
- - Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and administration.
- - Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- - Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
- - Background check clearance as required by state law.
