Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Resource Room Teacher at SCMV Options. This full-time position is designed for an educator who is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. The Resource Room Teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, and parents to provide tailored support and interventions that promote academic success and personal growth for students with disabilities.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Provide direct instruction and support in a resource room setting, focusing on academic skills, social-emotional development, and self-advocacy.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to identify students in need of additional support and create strategies for inclusion in the mainstream classroom.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies and interventions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, IEP goals, and other relevant documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to discuss student progress and address concerns.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing insights and recommendations regarding student needs and services.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, independence, and confidence.
- Assist in the development of resources and materials to support diverse learners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a resource room or inclusive classroom setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and tools to enhance learning experiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the school community.
