Teacher Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at JPS Cascades Elementary as a Teacher Assistant. In this full-time position, you will support classroom activities, assist in the educational development of students, and contribute to creating a positive and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lesson plans and educational activities.
• Provide support to students during classroom instruction, ensuring they understand the material and stay engaged.
• Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning concepts and provide individualized support as needed.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and setting up classroom activities.
• Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the lead teacher.
• Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and providing necessary accommodations.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members regarding student progress and any concerns.
• Participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning and development.
• Basic understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
• Must pass background checks and any required training certifications.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
