Senior Civil Engineer – Natural Gas Capital Projects

Location:

Jackson, MI (Hybrid- onsite 3 days a week) Duration: 12-Month Contract Key Responsibilities

• Lead and define the civil engineering scope of work required to support natural gas capital projects
• Support projects across all phases, including concept development, detailed design, construction, and closeout
• Coordinate and manage external engineering consultants and review engineering deliverables for quality, constructability, and code compliance
• Provide technical leadership and engineering review of civil and structural designs
• Assist Project Managers with contracting and procurement of construction services, including development of bid documents and technical specifications
• Participate in pre-engineering kickoffs, pre-bid walkdowns, pre-construction meetings, and construction milestone reviews
• Provide field support during construction, including responding to RFIs, addressing site issues, performing quality inspections, and conducting redline walkdowns
• Complete project closeout activities, including record drawings, test documentation, and turnover packages
• Regularly communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans related to scope, quality, cost, and schedule
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures

• Hybrid role based in Jackson, MI
• Travel to construction sites 3 days per week on average, up to 5 days per week as project needs dictate
• Must be able to work safely in a heavy industrial environment, including exposure to loud, hot, and oily conditions
• Must be physically capable of:
• Climbing stairs and fixed ladders
• Accessing elevated platforms
• Entering confined or tight spaces (access hatches)
• Walking uneven or rough construction terrain

• Strong working knowledge of civil engineering design, including one or more of the following:
  • Site grading and development
  • Stormwater management and drainage systems
  • Pre-engineered metal buildings
  • Storage tank foundations
• Experience developing and coordinating engineering drawings and technical specifications for consulting and construction contracts
• Working knowledge of applicable civil and structural codes and standards, including:
  • IBC / MBC
  • ACI 318
  • AWS D1.1
  • ASCE 7
• Experience supporting construction activities, including inspections, constructability reviews, and field problem resolution

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
• Prior experience in natural gas, utilities, oil & gas, power generation, or heavy industrial facilities
• Experience working in owner, EPC, or utility environments.
