Job Description
The opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. ADO comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations. HII designs, develops, integrates and manages sensors, systems and other assets necessary to support integrated ISR operations and accelerated decision-making.
Location and EmploymentLocation:
Warren, MI. The role requires on-site work and cannot be done remotely.

Salary Range: $86,522 – $115,000 (based on role location, responsibilities and qualifications)
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Serve as an Engineering Lead.
- Provide onsite inspections of current and future shipyard work package installations; work with the prime contractor to resolve any installation issues that arise.
- Generate technical scope for STS Task Orders, shipyard contracts and modification work packages.
- Evaluate contractor proposals and perform technical assessments to support contract awards or modifications.
- Oversee contractor performance/execution per the applicable contract and/or work directive scope.
- Evaluate technical contract deliverables—including technical reports, drawings, Engineering Change Proposals (ECP)—and work with the contractor to achieve CDRL acceptance.
- Assist with the resolution of production issues as needed.
- Perform routine naval architecture work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in designing and analyzing ship hulls, foundations, superstructures and hull form characteristics.
- Assist in solving difficult problems in areas of assignment.
- Use prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of broader systems design, performance analysis, or hull form characteristic assignments of more experienced naval architects.
- 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree; or 0 years of experience with a Ph.D. or Juris Doctor in a related field.
- Experience analyzing vessel hull forms, arrangements, and structures.
- Experience reviewing hydrodynamic and stability calculations, including resistance, propulsion, seakeeping and maneuvering simulations.
- Understanding of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) standards, Navy Ship Design standards, or U.S. Coast Guard Rules.
- Proficiency with CAD software for ship design and analysis (e.g., Ship Constructor, AutoCAD, Rhino, GHS, Maxsurf).
- Capability to identify and define direct and derived technical requirements.
- Self‑starter with the ability to achieve results with limited supervision.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple competency areas and stakeholders.
- Highly motivated and able to think strategically.
- Focus on user needs.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
- 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7 years with a Master’s degree; or 3 years with a Ph.D. or Juris Doctor.
- Existing Secret Clearance with the U.S. Department of Defense.
- May require working in an office, industrial or shipboard environment.
- Able to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variations.
- May require the lifting and moving of materials not exceeding the guidelines set for one‑man lifts.
- Occasional Industrial/shipboard exposure; travel required at 25 % or greater, including out‑of‑country travel.
