Job Title:
Mechanical Engineer III – Generation Projects
Location:
Jackson, MI working hybrid schedule (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday onsite) Duration:
Until May 2027 (with a possibility of extension)
- Non-local candidates willing to relocate to Michigan are preferred over fully remote candidates
- Per Diem: $550 weekly offered for non-local candidates
Responsible for the development and engineering of new generation assets including:
- Natural Gas Generation
- Wind
- Battery Storage Projects
Seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to support natural gas generation development projects. The engineer will work closely with the Lead Project Engineer and support engineering activities including drawing reviews, specification development, equipment reviews, site visits, RFIs, and vendor submittals for power generation facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Support mechanical engineering activities for natural gas generation projects
- Review and update P&IDs, equipment layouts, and construction drawings
- Prepare technical specifications for mechanical equipment and materials
- Review vendor submittals and equipment drawings
- Evaluate mechanical equipment sizing, piping layouts, and fluid systems
- Respond to RFIs and support engineering documentation
- Support project budgeting, cost estimation, and reporting activities
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and clients
- Perform site visits to support engineering and construction activities
- Support development and implementation of mechanical systems for power generation facilities
- 4–7 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Experience supporting power generation or industrial projects
- Strong understanding of:
- P&IDs
- Mechanical equipment layouts
- Piping systems
- Experience with systems such as:
- Steam
- Fuel Gas
- Cooling Water
- Compressed Air Systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to learn and adapt to new engineering software/tools
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Welding, or Industrial Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- OR
- Engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program with Professional Engineering (PE) License in Mechanical Engineering
