Jackson, Michigan – Senior Civil Engineer #1057641
We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to provide leadership for natural gas capital projects, including gas distribution, transmission, regulator stations, compression and storage facilities.
Responsibilities- Provide civil engineering leadership for natural gas capital projects.
- Support capital upgrade projects within the civil engineering group.
- Work with multidisciplinary project teams that include project engineers, project managers, operations and others.
- Participate in multiple projects with varying levels of involvement.
- Identify, scope, and design the civil engineering design and construction scope necessary to complete projects.
- Contract engineering services and provide engineering review and technical leadership.
- Assist the Project Manager in contracting construction services.
- Complete closeout activities such as record drawings and test records.
- Provide regular project updates to supervisors, including status, risks to scope, quality, cost and schedule.
- Travel to construction projects average 3 days per week, up to 5 days.
- Perform site visits for kick‑off, pre‑bid walk‑downs, pre‑construction reviews, milestones, quality inspections and red‑line walk‑downs.
- Knowledge of civil design topics such as site design, stormwater management, pre‑engineered metal building design, foundation design, storage tank design, and environmental permitting.
- Experience coordinating and developing contract documents, engineering drawings and technical specifications for consulting and construction services.
- Knowledge of civil/structural codes (e.g., IBC/MBC, AISC, ACI 318, AWS D1.1, ASCE
7).
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to work independently.
- Communication of project status and risks.
- Engineering leadership and problem‑solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- Professional Engineering license in the State of Michigan preferred.
