Location: Jackson, MI 49201

Position Overview

CMS Energy is seeking a detail-oriented Technician III to support engineering and technical project activities. The ideal candidate will assist lead project engineers with engineering documentation, project coordination, field reporting, and design support while ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, analyze, and calculate engineering and project-related data.
  • Perform basic technical testing within the assigned field of specialization, as required.
  • Coordinate multiple engineering projects and support project schedules.
  • Assist lead project engineers with design reviews and engineering documentation.
  • Consolidate drawing review comments and support specification development.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, maps, graphic exhibits, and final documentation.
  • Develop field reports, inspection reports, and project summary reports.
  • Participate in site visits and travel as required to support field activities.
  • Maintain accurate project records while ensuring attention to detail and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-year college degree in a scientific, engineering, or technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience coordinating multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam, and related technical software.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn, follow direction, and work collaboratively within an engineering team.
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience supporting engineering or technical projects.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel for field work and site inspections as needed.
