Position Summary:

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE - up to 19 hours per week. WEEKDAYS ONLY. NO EVENING, WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY WORK. Top rate includes an additional $3.40 per hour for client contact time now through September 2026! No weekends, evenings or holiday work assignments. You do not have to work every week in this position.

Responsibilities:
The Jackson County Department on Aging is looking for experienced Home Care Workers to provide essential in-home support services to older adults, promoting their well-being and independence. Responsibilities include light housekeeping, personal care assistance, and respite care for primary caregivers, all in accordance with individualized client care plans. The Home Care Assistant fosters a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment while maintaining accurate service records and providing social and emotional support to clients.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or the equivalent.

Experience:

Some experience working with older adults required. Other Requirements:
Possession of a valid Michigan Driver's License. Relevant Skills/Specialized Equipment Knowledge:
• Basic office equipment such as telephone, calculator, photocopier, Fax, etc.
• Ability to operate a smart phone and its mapping application.
• Ability to document services provided to clients and client observations.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Ability to provide emotional and social support to clients.
• Ability to provide services for older adults who on occasion may have high physical and cognitive disabilities. Criminal background check, driving record history, and drug screen required.

Benefits:
This is primarily a non-benefit eligible position except for voluntary participation in a 457-investment plan and accrual of paid sick time in accordance with Michigan's Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA). Beginning with your first day of employment, you will accrue one (1) hour of ESTA leave for every 30 hours worked. ESTA leave may only be used for qualifying reasons defined under the Act and becomes available for use after completing a 120-day waiting period.
