General Summary
Under the direction and guidance of Assistant Director, People & Culture, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing human resources-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior People & Culture management to carry out responsibilities in the following areas:
Maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), total compensation administration; employee relations; recruitment, talent acquisition, training, credentialing, inclusion and belonging; and employment law compliance for the organization. The Human Resources Generalist will promote and advance a workplace environment that is warm, inviting, professional and service-oriented consistent with Life Ways’ mission and strategic objectives.
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements effective recruiting strategies and tools.
- Creates and maintains job postings, interview materials, and assessments.
- Coordinates and supports the interview and selection process, including screenings and scheduling.
- Represents Life Ways at job fairs, recruiting events, and community outreach activities.
- Utilizes ATS, job boards, social media, and networking platforms to attract qualified candidates.
- Conducts reference checks and manages pre-employment screening requirements.
- Communicates with applicants throughout the hiring process, including offers and start dates.
- Ensures timely HRIS entry for new hires and maintains recruiting and hiring metrics.
- Evaluates candidate qualifications and recommends equitable pay placement.
Training & Credentialing
- Administers the Relias learning management system.
- Coordinates, tracks, and monitors employee training and compliance requirements.
- Facilitates New Employee Orientation and conducts trainings as assigned.
- Ensures timely credentialing and re-credentialing in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Serves on the Credentialing Committee.
- Manages the Michigan New Jobs Training Program (MNJTP), including required reporting.
HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintains employee personnel files, HRIS data integrity, and compliance documentation.
- Verifies I-9 documentation and supports HR reporting needs.
- Assists with employee relations matters, including informal stay interviews.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Supports CARF and MDHHS compliance efforts and audit preparation.
- Maintains recruiting, training, credentialing, and turnover data.
- Completes meeting minutes on a rotational basis.
Organizational Support
- Creates an environment that supports inclusion and belonging
- Communicates staffing announcements, including hires, transfers, and departures.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities, as assigned.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Talent Acquisition & Recruiting
