Location: Jackson, MI (Hybrid – Onsite Mon/Tues/Thurs; Remote Wed/Fri)
Position OverviewThe GIS Systems Analyst supports the IT organization of a local utility by ensuring enterprise GIS platforms, spatial data, and integrated applications operate reliably and efficiently. This role works closely with engineering, operations, field services, and asset management teams to deliver accurate geospatial information and GIS-enabled solutions that enhance utility operations and customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and support enterprise GIS environments, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot GIS systems and services to ensure performance and availability
- Manage and maintain utility asset datasets, including QA/QC, data governance, and metadata standards
- Support system integrations between GIS and enterprise platforms such as OMS, CIS, EAM/CMMS, SCADA, and mobile workforce systems
- Develop and maintain web maps, dashboards, mobile data-collection tools, and custom GIS applications
- Automate workflows and improve data quality using Python, SQL, and FME
- Provide Tier 2/3 user support, documentation, and training for field and office staff
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver GIS-enabled solutions
- Monitor system performance, apply updates and patches, and ensure GIS service reliability
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with the ArcGIS suite in an enterprise environment
- Advanced proficiency with Esri technologies including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and enterprise geodatabases
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, SQL, and FME
- Experience supporting enterprise systems within structured IT environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with APIs and web services for system integrations
- Utilities industry experience (electric, gas, water, or wastewater)
- Familiarity with Esri Utility Network or legacy Geometric Network models
- Experience with mobile GIS tools such as Field Maps, Survey
123, and Workforce - Knowledge of cloud or virtualized environments including Azure, AWS, or VMware
