Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at One Energy Plaza in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package available for qualified candidates).
General Summary ofJob Responsibilities
The Principal Network Operations Center (NOC) Analyst leads IT incident response efforts, coordinates issue resolution, and drives problem management initiatives. The role involves advanced technical troubleshooting, mentoring junior NOC analysts, collaborating with engineering teams, developing technical documentation, and serving as the primary escalation point for complex issues. The analyst must possess extensive expertise across multiple IT domains and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Leads the organization’s Incident and Problem Management programs, establishing standards, ensuring compliance, and driving process improvements.
- Coordinates IT efforts to assess outage risks, strengthen infrastructure resilience, and implement monitoring enhancements.
- Leads incident triage and root cause analysis, resolving cascading impacts and preventing recurrence.
- Serves as the primary escalation point for the NOC, facilitating resolution of complex technical issues.
- Develops and maintains monitoring thresholds for core infrastructure platforms, ensuring scalability and resilience across on‑premises and cloud environments.
- Collaborates with application owners to identify, design, and operationalize monitoring improvements.
- Works with engineering teams on network changes and performance enhancements.
- Independently fulfills both standard and non‑standard service requests as defined by the NOC.
- Tracks and assesses team performance against established KPIs, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Creates and maintains operational documentation, knowledge‑base articles, and detailed troubleshooting guides.
- Mentors and coaches junior NOC analysts.
- Stays current on emerging IT technologies and evolving security threats.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise network technologies (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPN, Layer 7 firewalls, packet capture analysis, authentication protocols, general system administration).
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise compute technologies (cloud computing, directory services, virtualization, Microsoft Windows, Linux).
- Working knowledge of the ITIL framework.
- Familiarity with the NIMS‑defined Incident Command System (ICS).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to teach technical concepts and coach junior team members.
- Strong teamwork, humility, drive, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Ability to work outside standard business hours, including nights, weekends, and on‑call rotation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of experience in Network Operations, Infrastructure Operations, System Administration, or related IT role
- [OR] Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and 9+ years of experience in Network Operations, Infrastructure Operations, System Administration, or related IT role
- [OR] High School Diploma/GED and 11+ years of experience in Network Operations, Infrastructure Operations, System Administration, or related IT role
