Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Facility Maintenance
Sea Land Aire Technologies in Jackson, Michigan is looking for a Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator to join our team. Sea Land Aire provides engineering services for data collection in difficult environments.
The Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator responsibility is to oversee facility maintenance, building systems, and lab equipment upkeep to ensure operational reliability and safety. This role focuses on building maintenance and repairs, lab equipment upkeep and preventative maintenance, contractor/vendor managements, and support for the Lab Manager and operational continuity.
Essential Functions*Facilities/Building/Grounds Maintenance
Day-to-day building and grounds maintenance, ensuring that all facilities are in good condition and fully operational.
Routine inspections of the building, systems, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and prevent potential issues.
Manage repairs and maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, groundskeeping, and other essential systems within the facility.
Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance, obtaining quotes and ensuring work is done on time. This includes all groundskeeping, mowing, and snow removal.
Maintain and manage a preventative maintenance schedule to prolong the life of facility equipment and infrastructure.
Respond to emergency facility-related issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
Lab Equipment Maintenance
Oversee the maintenance and repair of all laboratory equipment, ensuring it is functional, calibrated, and safe to use.
Maintain and manage a preventative maintenance schedule to prolong the life of lab equipment.
Coordinate with the Lab Manager to ensure that any equipment breakdowns are addressed properly.
Assist in the identification and procurement of replacement parts or new equipment as needed.
Occasion cost-of-sales work on ongoing projects.
Inventory Management (parts and tools) in relation to all facilities maintenance.
Documentation and recordkeeping.
Perform other related duties as assigned

High school diploma or equivalent
General knowledge of building systems and lab equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Organized, self-directed, and responsive.
Proven ability to coordinate maintenance operations.
No certification requirements: vendors will handle advanced repairs.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear (sometimes in a noisy environment). This position is very active and may require standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time. Manual dexterity to use hand tools and handle small parts is required of this position, as well as the ability to lift and carry items over 25 lbs.
This position primarily works in a climate-controlled space but may occasionally be performed in outside weather conditions (appropriate PPE will be provided). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the manufacturing site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

This is an onsite, full-time hourly position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 40 hours per week. Hours are somewhat flexible and occasional late evenings and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
