Certain Teed Siding, a division of TOP GLOBAL EMPLOYER Saint‑Gobain, has an excellent opportunity for a Night Shift Warehouse Supervisor at our Jackson, MI plant.

What’s the Job?

Supervises the daily activities of all warehouse, shipping, receiving and inventory management functions including labor scheduling, storing, shipping, space management/cycle counting and housekeeping. Supervision of warehouse personnel to attain high efficiency and provides key leadership to safety, quality, housekeeping, and cost reduction while promoting positive employee relations within the warehouse team. Consistently and equitably, enforce plant rules, holding crew members accountable for all facets of their jobs.

The Supervisor is held accountable to ensure warehouse activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, compliance with legal and company policies, and procedures in a manner consistent with SGC Certain Teed LLC Principles of Conduct and Action.

Work Schedule

This position is on the Night Shift working from 6 PM to 6 AM on a rotating schedule 2/2/3. Must be able to work occasional weekends as part of the rotational schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises hourly warehouse employee activities pertaining to material management, equipment problems, truck loading, truck traffic, housekeeping, cycle counting, and inventory management. Will lead shift safety meetings to ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and health policies, procedures, and practices. (25%)
  • Communicates & documents employee expectations and assess employee performance. Provides coaching and development opportunities and administers disciplinary action up to and including termination if needed. Will be required to assist in the evaluation and selection process of hiring hourly employees. (20%)
  • Oversees the training of warehouse employees to ensure they receive adequate training prior to operating forklifts and any other motorized equipment, ensuring they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions. (15%)
  • Understands and performs cycle count activities and how they can affect inventory and all warehouse functions and all inventory locations are maintained with the correct inventory to ensure shipping documents are accurate – first‑in, first‑out should be the priority. (15%)
  • Ensuring solid communication between truck drivers and warehouse employees at all times. (10%)
  • Assists in performing root‑cause analysis as well as implementing sustainable countermeasures on losses related to warehouse activities. (5%)
  • Maintains workplace organization to ensure good housekeeping (5‑S) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas. Assures warehouse lighting infrastructure is operating and functioning for efficiency and safety. (5%)
  • Reviews and approves employee time in the UKG timekeeping system and ensures employees are paid the correct hours and wages in accordance with the respective site’s pay policies and procedures or collective bargaining agreements. (5%)
  • Investigates EH&S incidents—injuries, near missed, first aid, environmental and property/equipment damage. Conducts EHS and SMAT audits to support the plant’s EHS goals. Ensures adherence to waste management and recycling responsibilities. Participates in the development, understanding and review of all position job safety assessments and standard operating procedures and participates in incident & near‑miss investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • 2‑year degree preferred (equivalent experience may be considered)
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience
  • General understanding of ISO methodology (ISO 9001, 14001, & OHSAS 18001) required
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5‑S & Six‑Sigma a plus – preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – required
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (familiarity with UKG and SAP systems) – preferred
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution – required
  • Powered Industrial Truck License (forklift, combinational, shrek) 2 months – required
