Job Description
The Storekeeper
-SPV-1 is a first line level supervisor with the responsibility for the overall day-to-day operations of the Jackson Complex Warehouse and timekeeping duties. This position’s work location is the Jackson Complex Warehouse. The role has direct supervisory contact with prisoners from a Level 1 (one) State Correctional Facility (SMT) at all times, supervising prisoners during the performance of all the employee’s duties and tasks, enforcing the facility’s rules, and participating directly in the disciplinary process.
Employees are required to complete 40 hours of mandatory annual training due to prisoner contact and supervision.

Education
No specific type or amount of education is required.
Experience
Five years of experience equivalent to a Storekeeper, including three years equivalent to a Storekeeper E6 or two years equivalent to a Storekeeper 7.
Additional Requirements and InformationThe Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.

New hires and returning employees after more than two years will complete Non‑Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) with either 40 or 80 hours of initial in‑person training based on offender contact and job classification. All new employees will also complete additional online training. Overnight travel may be required for NCNET.
