Job Description
Classic Turning, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Estimator to support both prospective and existing customers. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely quotations, entering purchase orders, and serving as a key customer contact. The Cost Estimator analyzes blueprints, specifications, and related documentation to determine labor, time, and material costs while working closely with engineering and operations to ensure profitable and competitive pricing.
This position plays a critical role in supporting the company’s goal of becoming the supplier of choice.
- Prepare and return accurate, competitive, and timely quotes to customers
- Quote new work to ensure profitability for Classic Turning, Inc.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and customer documentation to determine manufacturing costs
- Work closely with engineers and internal teams to ensure accurate costing
- Obtain pricing for materials, outside services, and subcontracted operations from vendors
- Follow up on aging quotes and close them out with the appropriate status
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and build strong customer relationships
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and methodologies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions, communications, and transactions
- Update customer information in company databases as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues in a timely and effective manner
- Complete all required administrative tasks
- Proactively participate in company-wide continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety
- Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while meeting deadlines
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills
- Ability to work with multiple information systems, both internal and external
- Computer literacy, particularly with shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control systems
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Manufacturing, estimating, or machining-related experience preferred
