Technique is looking for a Materials Coordinator to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager in the Purchasing department. This role is responsible for accepting, inspecting, stocking, and inventorying materials, hardware, and customer supplied components, supporting production operations with properly staged and traceable material.
Responsibilities- Operate material handling equipment – Obtain and maintain license to operate forklift & overhead crane to safely unload material.
- Perform receiving inspection – Conduct basic receiving inspection of incoming materials to verify condition and accuracy.
- Stage and organize material – Organize and properly stage material for use in production operations.
- Verify material dimensions – Use inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, and tape measure) to verify sheet size and thickness matches what is ordered.
- Safely handle material – Handle all materials safely in accordance with company and department safety procedures.
- Distribute job folders – Distribute job folders to appropriate areas to support production workflow.
- Process receivers in E2 – Process receivers and inventory adjustments accurately in the E2 shop management system.
- Read blueprints and understand specifications – Read blueprints and understand material specifications; apply firm knowledge of material grades (Level
2). - Maintain material traceability – File material certs and maintain accurate material traceability records (Level
2). - Manage inventory levels – Maintain proper inventory levels for stock material and place re‑order tags as needed (Level
2). - Conduct cycle counts – Perform cycle counts of sheet and tube inventory and adjust E2 accordingly (Level
2). - Handle non‑conforming material – Properly identify, segregate, and process non‑conforming material per company procedures (Level
2). - Collaborate and communicate – Work effectively on cross‑functional teams, maintain excellent communication, and seek continuous improvements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years working in a warehouse setting.
- Knowledge of various grades of sheet metal and tool steels (ASTM, SAE, AISI & JIS specifications).
- Experience operating material handling equipment (forklift & overhead crane); licensure required.
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, and Word); advanced skills preferred for Level 2.
- Ability to use inventory software and strong organizational skills; close attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize work and communicate effectively.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise.
- No travel required for this position.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States, either by means of U.S. Citizenship, Work Visa, or H1B sponsorship.
This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position with a minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime as needed.
