Manufacturing Operator

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Operator to join our team in Jackson, MI!

The position requires the flexibility to work 1st shift: 7 am - 3:30 pm, 2nd shift: 4pm - 12:30 am, and 3rd shift: 10:30 pm - 7 am.

The hourly rate for this position is $16.50 per hour. 2nd and 3rd shift hours offer an additional $1 per hour shift premium.

The Jackson, Michigan site is a unionized location. There is a 5-month probationary period, after which you will be considered a union member and begin paying union dues.

Direct and indirect hourly labor positions are responsible for hands‑on product manufacturing, material movement and storage, assembly and quality testing.

In this role, you will

• Active involvement in creating a safe workplace and following safety best practices.
• Work on cross functional Lean/Continuous Improvement Teams to improve manufacturing process efficiency and customer quality and delivery performance.
• Assemble products using machines and hand tools.
• Fabricate products using a variety of different methods and machines.
• Test assemblies using test machinery.
• Inspection of parts using fixtures, gages, and other inspection equipment.
• Shipping/Receiving dock, stockroom, material movement, and packaging activities.
• Extensive use of computers to view and edit manufacturing documents, transact inventory, and enter/track/maintain/analyze production data.
• Performing other related duties as required

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment required.
• Experience with quality systems and quality orientated processes
• Basic experience with computer applications for documentation and order processing

• Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution preferred.
• Experience with production and inventory tracking software preferred.

• Demonstrated aptitude using computers, math, and blueprint reading skills.
• Familiarity with material movement
• Ability to stand and/or walk for 8-12 hours, to physically climb stairs, and to lift 35 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Understanding and ability to use precision gauging instruments and apply basic math skills, including correctly measuring with precision tools to .001” using calipers and micrometers
