Job Description

Licensed Practical Nurse E9:
Provide a full range of nursing care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Perform total patient care for assigned patients, including hygiene, activities of daily living, ambulation, assessment within the LPN scope, medication administration, and reporting to the RN. Work with maximum security prisoners 100% of on‑duty time. The role includes random drug and alcohol screening.

Possession of a certificate from a practical nursing education program accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

:
No specific type or amount is required.
- Employment in state classified service requires high loyalty and ethical standards; all employees must report any possible conflict of interest.
- All required documents must be attached and submitted at the time of application through NEOGOV.
- Applicants must submit official college transcripts if applicable. Unofficial transcripts are not accepted.
- Applicants convicted of a felony are ineligible for MDOC employment until satisfactory completion of any sentence, including parole or probation.
- New hires and returning employees after more than two years complete Non‑Custody New Employee Training (NCNET): either 40 or 80 hours in-person training plus additional online modules based on offender contact level.
