Overview
Primary
Purpose:
Build relationships with customers and support the sale of Gerdau products, generating revenue.
Customer Engagement: Establish rapport, trust, and strong relationships with customers through face‑to‑face meetings (in person). Represent Gerdau, understand customer business needs, and demonstrate how Gerdau products can meet those needs.
Business Development: Call on the current book of business (A, B, C, and possibly D customers) and identify new customer opportunities within the territory through networking, trade shows, and visits.
Forecasting: Develop a 2‑ to 3‑month forecast based on customer needs for tons, using volume and price data.
Pricing Decisions: Analyze and decide on pricing, discounts, or rebates based on customer size, strategic impact, and order volume.
Collaboration: Work with Inside Sales, Customer Service, Fulfillment, and Marketing groups to ensure orders are received and accepted.
Territory Focus: Responsible for sales and volume within a specific territory and product line(s). Territory size averages over 10,000 tons per month. Sales goals/quotas include volume and forecast accuracy.
QualificationsFive or more years of sales experience and a four‑year degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Experience- Steel, metals manufacturing, commodities related to the steel industry, metals distribution/service centers, general manufacturing (industrial, automotive).
- Business with Sales and Marketing emphasis
- Engineering or Materials Sciences
Approximately 75% travel.
