About Dunigan Bros., Inc

Water is one of the 3 essential needs for human life. That’s why we specialize in constructing infrastructure to supply clean water and dispose of wastewater for communities throughout the Midwest.

How you get to help us do that in this role

Prepare groundwork and materials for the construction of underground water mains, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers.

What you’ll do
  • Provide timely and safe transportation of equipment to and from sites.
  • Ensure construction is built in alignment with plan specifications by reading, measuring, and accurately interpreting grades and elevations.
  • Contribute to the successful and safe completion of projects by skillfully maneuvering loaders, skid steers, rollers, dozers, backhoes, hoe packs, small excavators, and other heavy equipment to achieve required grade and compaction of earth and trenches.
  • Enable seamless workflows by anticipating crew needs and providing timely support and access to materials.
  • Maintain the integrity of work and surrounding infrastructure with proper material placement and back filling.
  • Maximize equipment safety, efficiency, reliability, and longevity through regular cleaning, maintenance, minor repairs, and proactive completion of usage/performance records.
  • Prioritize safety by operating with awareness and caution in areas with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
About you
  • You have experience operating heavy equipment for excavation, grading, compaction, and/or material handling.
  • You’re great at knowing the shortest and best route between starting and completing work. You don't need to rush because you're resourceful and work in a well‑organized way to gain maximum effect through a minimum number of steps.
  • You're drawn to challenges that engage your mind and test your skills. From complex plans to equipment troubleshooting, the uncertainty of a challenge brings out the problem‑solver and learner in you.
  • Safety and quality are a reflection of who you are, and you believe “good enough” isn’t good enough.
  • Your driver’s license reflects a safe driving history.
  • You've earned a High School diploma or equivalent.
Even better (but not required) if you have
  • Underground utility experience.
What’s in it for you
  • Balance - While many heavy civil contractors work their teams 70-80 hours per week, we average 45-50 hours per week and very rarely work weekends.
  • Growth - We know it's hard to find good training in this industry. We won't expect you to "pick it up or move on." We offer unlimited training, both hands‑on and online.
  • Financial Security
    • 401k with 8% employer contribution after 1st full year of employment. No employee match required to receive the company provided 8%.
    • Platinum healthcare with minimal employee costs ($25 per week for family care).
    • Twice annual vacation fund payouts.
  • Variety - You will not be doing repetitive work. We chase after different types of unique projects and seek to take on the most challenging ones.
  • Stability - Work with a stable crew on long term projects. You won't be constantly re‑dispatched and moved around. You'll know where you're going every day.
  • Recognition & Support - Gift cards, birthday gifts, go home early days when possible, Ariat apparel allowance.
