How you get to help us do that in this rolePrepare groundwork and materials for the construction of underground water mains, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers.
What you’ll do- Provide timely and safe transportation of equipment to and from sites.
- Ensure construction is built in alignment with plan specifications by reading, measuring, and accurately interpreting grades and elevations.
- Contribute to the successful and safe completion of projects by skillfully maneuvering loaders, skid steers, rollers, dozers, backhoes, hoe packs, small excavators, and other heavy equipment to achieve required grade and compaction of earth and trenches.
- Enable seamless workflows by anticipating crew needs and providing timely support and access to materials.
- Maintain the integrity of work and surrounding infrastructure with proper material placement and back filling.
- Maximize equipment safety, efficiency, reliability, and longevity through regular cleaning, maintenance, minor repairs, and proactive completion of usage/performance records.
- Prioritize safety by operating with awareness and caution in areas with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
- You have experience operating heavy equipment for excavation, grading, compaction, and/or material handling.
- You’re great at knowing the shortest and best route between starting and completing work. You don't need to rush because you're resourceful and work in a well‑organized way to gain maximum effect through a minimum number of steps.
- You're drawn to challenges that engage your mind and test your skills. From complex plans to equipment troubleshooting, the uncertainty of a challenge brings out the problem‑solver and learner in you.
- Safety and quality are a reflection of who you are, and you believe “good enough” isn’t good enough.
- Your driver’s license reflects a safe driving history.
- You've earned a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Underground utility experience.
- Balance - While many heavy civil contractors work their teams 70-80 hours per week, we average 45-50 hours per week and very rarely work weekends.
- Growth - We know it's hard to find good training in this industry. We won't expect you to "pick it up or move on." We offer unlimited training, both hands‑on and online.
