R.W. Mercer Co. is a family-owned construction and service company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan with seven locations - six in Michigan and one in Indiana. The company operates in three distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance.
A Carpenter at R.W. Mercer is responsible for performing a wide range of skilled carpentry tasks within our general contracting division. As our team continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Carpenter with a preferred minimum of five years of industry experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and hands-on experience in wood and metal framing, composite siding installation, drywall hanging and finishing, and finish carpentry, while consistently delivering high-quality craftsmanship and contributing to the successful completion of construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Installation of wooden and metal structures: framing, rafters, joists, and stud work
- Installation of composite siding
- Assist with drywall installation (hang and finish)
- Finish carpentry work
- Verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with customers and team members
- Strong organizational skills
- Work well under pressure and meet constant deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- High school degree or equivalent
- 5-10 years Construction industry experience preferred
- Previous experience as a Foreman/ Supervisor preferred
- CDL license preferred but not required

Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; possibly stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach and twist; push, pull, lift and/or carry light to moderate amounts of weight; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
