Pay:
Competitive compensation based on experience and diagnostic ability. Benefits and additional compensation details will be discussed in the hiring process.
Lester Brothers is looking for an experienced mechanic to keep our heavy trucks and construction equipment running. We need someone who can take a difficult problem from diagnosis through repair, especially when it involves electrical systems, hydraulics, or diesel emissions.
What you’ll do
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks and equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, and backhoes.
- Troubleshoot engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and fuel systems.
- Diagnose DPF, DEF/SCR, EGR, sensor, regeneration, and derate issues using diagnostic software and scan tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance, major component repairs, and occasional field repairs.
- Document repairs and communicate parts needs, recommendations, and expected downtime.
What we’re looking for
- We are looking for an experienced mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment running and who understands that proper diagnosis is just as important as the repair itself.
- The right person will be comfortable working on everything from excavating equipment with hydraulic problems to newer diesel trucks experiencing emissions-related derates.
- We value mechanics who are dependable, organized, safety-minded, and capable of taking ownership of difficult repairs from diagnosis through completion.
- Extensive heavy diesel and construction equipment repair experience; 10 years preferred.
- Strong independent diagnostic skills, including electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Experience with Class 8 or vocational trucks and modern diesel emissions systems.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service information.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Own basic hand tools. Lester Brothers provides specialty tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Welding and fabrication skills a plus.
- CDL is a plus.
Physical requirements and work conditions
- This is a hands-on position involving standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing on and off equipment, and working in tight spaces.
- Mechanics handle tools and parts and use lifting equipment or assistance for heavy components.
- Work is primarily in the shop, with occasional field repairs outdoors in varying weather.
- The role involves exposure to shop noise, dust, diesel exhaust, oils, and grease. Required protective equipment must be worn.
- Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Benefits Include:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision available at 60 days of employment.
- Health Reimbursement Arrangement where company pays nearly the entire individual deductible.
- 401(k) with generous company match.
- 3 weeks of paid time off (PTO).
- Holiday pay.
- Annual merit increases and no salary caps.
