Part-Time Freight Handler. Jackson Move Collective

Starting Rate of Pay: $21.16/hour

Shift Time: 1600 - 2000

Join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Freight Handler! In this role, you will transport freight efficiently across the dock area and assist in ensuring accurate loading of trailers.

• Handle freight with precision using various equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.

• Verify that freight documentation corresponds with the actual contents and report any discrepancies.

• Secure freight within trailers utilizing the proper tools and supplies to ensure safe transport.

• Assist in the repair and recovery of any damaged freight when necessary.

• Accurately complete all required documentation and reports.

• Provide assistance to customers with their freight needs and documentation.

• Perform hostling duties as needed.

• Adhere to all safety laws and regulations, along with company policies and procedures.

• Take on additional tasks as required to support the team.

• Preferred:
  High school diploma or equivalent.

• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations is a plus.

• If hostler/yard mule duties are required, experience is preferred.

• Ability to perform basic math and counting skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capable of lifting and carrying hand freight of various weights frequently, including moving dock plates and opening trailer doors.

• Physical stamina to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout the shift.

• Works well both independently and within a team setting.

• Previous dock or warehouse experience is preferred.

• Work environment is within a dock area; expect exposure to a range of weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise.

• Hours may vary based on operational needs.

• Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere with regular interaction with service center personnel.
