SUMMARY
Assist the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator with the college’s storeroom, shipping/receiving, mailroom, and lockers. Responsible for receipt, inspection, and distribution of incoming equipment and supplies; responsible for campus mail pickup and delivery, maintaining campus mailroom policy and procedures; maintains inventory records and reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintain storeroom supply inventory.
- Order storeroom supplies as needed.
- Process and deliver orders.
- Prepare and maintain records of campus storeroom supply withdrawals.
- Provide accounting documentation (packing slips) and record keeping to Business office.
- Receives, records, and inspects all incoming shipments.
- Distributes received goods campus wide and to extension centers.
- Maintain the College’s capital asset inventory system.
- Maintain College Parcel Locker delivery system
- Prepares all materials for United Parcel Service and common carriers daily shipping; maintains records for same.
- Assists with mailroom operations; assures appropriate processing of all incoming and outgoing mail, pick‑ups, and deliveries.
- Familiar with current postal regulations and rates, bulk mailing requirements etc.
- Picks up and delivers U.S. mail at post office as required.
- Sort and deliver all incoming U.S. Mail and all intra‑school mail once a day including student mail and packages. Loads Smart lockers accordingly.
- Sort, weigh, meter, and bundle first class presort flats, media, and package book and library rates.
- Process bulk mailings as needed.
- Transports deposits to the bank routinely, occasionally picks up change orders. In the absence of the coordinator.
- Trained and certified in using the forklift.
- Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College’s beliefs, values, mission, and vision and agreeing to be evaluated by same.
Other duties may be assigned.

CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTSInternal:
Daily contact with department personnel. Regular contact with staff from other departments in service provider capacity.
External:
Contact with delivery personnel, postal representatives, and banking personnel in service provider capacity.

Education and ExperienceRequired:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- One year of related experience
- The ability to become proficient in the operation of postage machine.
- The ability to successfully complete forklift certification.
- Valid State of Michigan driver license
Skills and Abilities
This position occasionally requires off campus pick‑ups and deliveries, therefore a valid State of Michigan driver’s license with no restrictions is required. Additionally, this position occasionally requires assisting common carriers with their daily deliveries by operating a motorized forklift, therefore training on forklift operations and safety is required.
This position requires the use of a computer to prepare common carrier documents (UPS, Fed Ex shippers), locate faculty via “Colleague”, and access U.S. Postal information (confirm address and zip codes).
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical SkillsThe ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers, and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Also, the ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
