Position OverviewThe Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) seeks an Events Coordinator to serve in the Museum Division's Events Rental Section. The Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing facility rentals for religious organizations at the Two Mississippi Museums (TwoMM), including all communications and required documentation related to facility use. The incumbent will conduct targeted outreach to places of worship and religious organizations to promote rental opportunities and strengthen community engagement.
ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the event rental team, the Events Coordinator will support the day‑to‑day operations of facility use events and provide logistical assistance throughout the planning process. Duties include communicating with clients and group leaders by phone, email, and in-person meetings; conducting facility tours; preparing contracts, invoices, and related documentation; and coordinating event logistics with departmental staff in advance of events.
The Events Coordinator will oversee event preparation, setup, and cleanup to ensure spaces are arranged according to requested layouts and event specifications. Additional responsibilities include assisting with day‑of‑event execution and providing timely post‑event follow‑up and communication to the Events Manager. The position also requires working evenings and after‑hours events as needed, as well as supporting special events held throughout the year.
This position reports to the Events Manager and is a five‑year, time‑limited (NS-14) position.
Strong organizational skills, maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor, and ability to consistently respond to tasks and communications in a timely manner.
Preferred QualificationsTypically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 1‑3 years of experience. Experience in event coordination, customer service, or sales is preferred.
