About the AgencyThe Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is the state's lead economic and community development agency. MDA recruits new companies to Mississippi, helps existing companies expand, and provides support to foster growth and new opportunities in a variety of areas, including energy, small and minority business, trade, film, retiree recruitment, and more. Additionally, MDA attracts millions of visitors to the state each year through Visit Mississippi, the tourism division of the agency.
MDA also supports pass-through funding and provides support for a variety of grant programs and non-profits, such as Innovate Mississippi and the Mississippi Main Street Association.
This position performs operational and administrative support work within the Operations Division, providing centralized services related to telecommunications, mail and shipping, vehicle administration, and more.
- Prepare time-sensitive national and international shipments in accordance with applicable mailing, shipping, and delivery requirements.
- Process outgoing mail, packages, and related materials; ensure proper handling, routing, and documentation.
- Assemble, package, and ship marketing materials of various sizes and weights in accordance with shipping requirements and agency needs.
- Prepare and maintain cost allocation reports for mail, shipping, and related operational services.
- Respond to counter requests and provide assistance to internal customers, vendors, and agency representatives.
- Pick up, sort, distribute, and deliver mail, parcels, supplies, and other materials as needed.
- Assist with central supply operations, including stocking, issuing, tracking, and fulfilling supply requests.
- Support volume photocopying, centralized document processing, digital imaging, and records-related services.
- Assist with external deliveries, warehouse operations, inventory management, and property administration activities.
- Assist with the movement, setup, relocation, and arrangement of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and related agency property to support office needs, facility changes, meetings, special events, and operational requirements.
- Provide support for vehicle administration, fleet maintenance coordination, and related operational needs.
- Assist with facility-related liaison activities, special event arrangements, and other operational support functions as assigned.
- Other projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Valid Mississippi driver’s license.
- 3-5 years of experience related to operational support.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Strong multitasking abilities with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Experience in mail services, shipping and receiving, inventory control, supply operations, fleet or vehicle coordination, document processing, warehouse support, or related operational support functions.
