Administrative Assistant
The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Administrative Assistant position.
Assist in the daily operations of the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation by managing routine administrative functions and providing organizational support to faculty, staff; students, and department leadership.
Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff., alumni, and external stakeholders by responding to inquiries, providing information, and directing individuals to appropriate resources.
Maintain department records, files, databases, and documentation in accordance with university policies and procedures while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with institutional regulations.
Coordinate departmental communications, including managing telephone calls, email correspondence, mail distribution, and departmental announcements.
Minimum of two (2) years of administrative, clerical, or office management experience; preferably in a higher education setting.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with database management systems.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
