Mississippi Center for Public Policy is Mississippi’s free market think tank. Inspired by America’s founding ideals of liberty and limited government, we work to advance liberty, free markets, and opportunity for every Mississippian.
What We Do — Our FocusWe help set the policy agenda in Mississippi across four areas: education freedom, taxes and the economy, healthcare, and the American ideal. We have been nationally recognized for a string of major strategic wins over the past few years, and our peers across the country have voted us winners of the State Policy Network’s prestigious Bob Williams Award twice in the past four years.
Our recent wins include labor market deregulation, flat tax reform, school funding reform, and leading the campaign to end Mississippi’s income tax — making Mississippi the first state to do so since Alaska in 1980. We are looking for an Executive Assistant to take on work currently undertaken by our small team, and to expand upon what we currently do.
What the Job Involves:- Donor communications. Making sure every supporter is thanked properly and promptly, and hears regularly about what their support has achieved.
- Our mailing schedule. Running the year’s program of letters and appeals, so that nothing slips.
- Scheduling. Booking meetings for our CEO.
- Fundraising support. Our annual Gala, and the new fundraising work we are developing.
- Records and systems. Keeping Salesforce accurate, and helping to maintain our web tools. No previous development experience is needed.
- Meticulous attention to detail. A lot of the data and the processes for success are already here. We need someone to come alongside us and be sure it is done.
- Ability to learn. We are not looking for development experience, but for someone able to learn. You will work using basic office systems including Salesforce, and we will show you what to do.
- Initiative. We are a small but highly productive team, because we hire people who see the challenge and are prepared to figure out how to overcome it.
- Personable and aligned with our mission as Mississippi’s free market advocacy organization.
- A good phone manner. A key part of this role is scheduling meetings, so you need to be prepared to make the calls to schedule them.
- Discretion. You will handle donor information, and our supporters trust us with it.
- Clear written English. Much of this work is letters that go out over the CEO’s signature.
This might suit someone looking to work part- to full-time hours. The role is based in our Jackson office — remote working is not an option.
Salary is competitive, and medical insurance coverage can be opted in to if hired as full-time.
