Job Summary:The Facilities Operations Specialist will manage the operation and monitoring of building automation systems, fire alarm systems, elevator monitoring, and telephone and radio systems for UMMC.

Required:
High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience in facilities operations, building monitoring, or technical support.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration
Required:
Valid Mississippi driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledgeable in energy management, HVAC, electrical systems, pump drives, elevators, steam systems and fire systems. Proficient computer skills and software applications, interpersonal skills; verbal and written communication skills; ability to monitor, control and teach applicable systems; strong organizational skills, detail‑oriented; customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and monitors the building automation and energy management systems, reporting equipment failures and malfunctions.
- Monitors the fire alarm computer system to ensure proper notification of fire response personnel.
- Coordinates and assigns maintenance requests and dispatches facilities technicians for emergent situations.
- Prepares and maintains accurate logs, reports, and records.
- Performs parameter entry for designated areas of the building automation system as directed.
- Manages third‑party (contracted) campus response for fire alarms, medical gas panel alarms, water flow alarms, elevator entrapments, and other critical infrastructure systems.
- Serves as after‑hours parking coordinator, answering the emergency gate phone and processing parking fine payments.
- Coordinates on‑site contractors with appropriate facilities personnel.
- Oversees the UMMC travel vehicle check‑in and check‑out process and ensures proper documentation.

Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, frequent activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, frequent climbing, occasional crawling, frequent crouching/stooping, occasional driving, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
