Job Opportunity

This position is within the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (OVRB) and serves as a Business Consultant supporting blind managers participating in the Business Enterprise Program (BEP). The incumbent provides guidance and oversight to ensure successful business operations and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include scheduling and conducting initial, annual, random, renewal, and follow-up inspections of assigned BEP businesses to ensure compliance with applicable state laws, rules, and regulations.

The consultant works closely with blind managers to promote best practices, address operational needs, and support continuous improvement. Individuals in this position are expected to develop a thorough understanding of departmental policies and procedures and to apply them consistently in their work. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.

A successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with blind business managers and stakeholders. The individual should possess sound organizational and time-management skills to independently plan, schedule, and complete inspections and follow-up activities. The position requires attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and policies consistently and fairly.

Experience in business operations, consulting, compliance, or program oversight is beneficial. The ideal candidate is adaptable, professional, and committed to supporting the independence and success of individuals who are blind.

Typically requires High school equivalency and 1-3 years of experience. Agency
