Job Description
Mississippi Valley State University seeks a visionary leader and collaborator for the position of Director of Library Services. This beautiful campus is located in the Mississippi Delta 16 miles east of Greenwood and 56 miles west of Greenville, MS. The James Herbert White Library serves as a dynamic cultural and academic center for the Itta Bena community. There is a possibility of a faculty appointment, depending on degree(s) and disciplinary training.
Statement of Duties:
The Director of Library Services reports to the Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, supervises administrative and professional staff, and serves on University and Ad hoc committees that supports teaching and learning. Additionally, the Director is responsible for supporting graduate and undergraduate academic programs, and the University’s educational and research department missions. The Director is responsible for overall management of the library’s operations, facilities and services, development and implementation of annual operational plans, as well as strategic planning, evaluation and assessment, budgeting and external relations.
The Director will guide the strategic direction and operational excellence of the James Herbert White Library. The Director will partner with the University’s academic departments to provide oversight of Library services, policies and programs including assessment, fiscal and resource allocation, and exhibitions.

Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : 5 years or more professional librarian experience with sustained, meaningful contributions in leadership, service, professional development, and scholarship. Master of Library Science or an equivalent degree from an ALA
-accredited institution. 5-10 years supervising and managing library operations and staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Academic Library Experience Doctorate in Library Science or closely related field.
