Time Commitment: 6–10 hours per month

Program Year: September – May

About Girls Ment To Be

Girls Ment To Be is a nonprofit organization based in Jackson, MS, dedicated to providing mentorship, academic support, leadership development, and life-skills programming for girls ages 7–17. Our mission is to empower young girls to excel academically, grow in confidence, and thrive in their future careers.

We offer two program tracks:

  • NextGEN (Elementary School Girls – 3rd–5th Grade)
  • Empower HER (Middle & High School Girls – 6th–12th Grade)

We are seeking two passionate, engaging Workshop Facilitators to help deliver high-impact Saturday programming aligned with our monthly curriculum themes.

Position Overview

The Workshop Facilitator will plan and lead interactive, age-appropriate workshops twice per month (alternating Saturdays) that support leadership development, academic enrichment, career exposure, confidence building, and personal growth.

This role is ideal for educators, youth development professionals, counselors, social workers, or subject-matter experts who are passionate about empowering girls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate engaging, structured workshops for girls ages 7–17
  • Deliver curriculum aligned with monthly themes (leadership, mental health, career readiness, financial literacy, etc.)
  • Incorporate academic enrichment into sessions (reading, writing, STEM activities, goal setting, critical thinking)
  • Create safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environments
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programs and Program Coordinator
  • Participate in facilitator training and planning meetings
  • Track attendance and submit brief session summaries
  • Model professionalism, leadership, and positive mentorship behaviors
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Experience working with youth (education, nonprofit, mentoring, coaching, or related field)
  • Strong public speaking and facilitation skills
  • Ability to engage both elementary and teen audiences
  • Organized, reliable, and professional
  • Passionate about girls’ empowerment and community impact
  • Background check required
Preferred
  • Teaching certification, youth development certification, or relevant degree
  • Experience with curriculum planning
  • Experience incorporating academic enrichment into programming
