INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT, ENGLISH LEARNER (Spann Elementary)

• Meet qualifications for NCLB (48 hours of college or higher OR has passed state mandated test - Work keys)
• Ability to work with young children

Building principal or designee – Under direct supervision of teacher.

To provide a program for pre-kindergarten children that is designed to promote the development of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills of participating children.

• Works with students selected for participation in the pre-kindergarten project.
• Assists school staff in scheduling selected students for project activities.
• Follows a schedule of time periods with students each day as directed by supervising teacher.
• Works with students in small and large groups.
• Reinforces activities for a daily group from specific concepts designated and approved by the teacher.
• Assists with the personalized instructional sessions of pupils to meet needs indicated by the Basic Skills Checklists.
• Implements planned activities for gross motor activities to be used to meet needs as designated by the Basic Skills Checklists.
• Assumes non-instructional duties assigned by the principal before and after the class day as current hours per day will allow.
• Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of personnel.
