Academic Advisor – Medical Education
Job SummaryTo guide students through the initial part of their professional development in medicine with considerations given to students’ academic needs, goals, interests and prior education, along with available institutional and school support services.
Education & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or a similar area and three years of related experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn and use computer programs, network software and database management systems.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently find and analyze information.
- Ability to process and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from varying backgrounds.
- Assess individual students’ study skills, identify appropriate resources and make appropriate referrals for students perceived to be at risk.
- Assist students in the development of individualized educational plans.
- Maintain appropriate administrative documents.
- Develop and promote internal communication and resource sharing to promote student success.
- Track the collective needs of students.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement for all services related to academic advising.
- Integrate best practices and technology aimed at improving student services.
