Job DescriptionThis teacher will support students in a community-based setting, providing instructional support and developmental guidance aligned with Exceptional Education Services.
Job GoalTo help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
Essential Functions- Meet and instruct assigned classes at the designated location and times.
- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to student maturity and interest.
- Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation when requested.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and similar activities.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of student groups.
- Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives by instruction and action.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Diagnose learning abilities regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law, policy, and regulation.
- Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures, maintaining order fairly.
- Be available to students and parents outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) and evaluate their performance with department heads.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Support and implement the CORE Literacy initiative and WOW (Working on the Works).
- Perform other related duties as requested or assigned.
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on personnel evaluation.
