Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position
The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position.
The teaching load is a 3:3 (graduate courses) or a 4:4 (undergraduate courses).
Teaching in content areas will be based on departmental need and expertise of the faculty member.
In addition to teaching, psychology faculty members are required to serve on dissertation and second year paper committees, to mentor both undergraduate and graduate students in their research laboratories, and to provide academic advisement.
Faculty are required to pursue research funding through grant development.
A willingness to develop and teach on-line courses is also desired.
The position requires a clear commitment to excellence in teaching and advisement, departmental, college and university service and a productive research agenda that will enable the candidate to meet the criteria for promotion and tenure at the appropriate time in the Department of Psychology.
Development of research labs, creation of research teams, and participation in scientific guild associations and conferences are also responsibilities associated with this position.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Applicants for this Psychologist position must have earned a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program, must be a competent clinician who can provide clinical supervision to doctoral students and must be licensed or license-eligible according to criteria established by the Mississippi Board of Psychology.
Licensed eligible applicants are expected to obtain a license to practice psychology within 2 years or less from the date of hire.
Applicants must have adequate training and experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, must have mentoring experience at the graduate or undergraduate levels and must demonstrate the capacity to sustain a productive research agenda that integrates science with practice.
