Job Description:
The Workforce Training Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering workforce training programs that enhance the technical and professional skills of employees, job seekers, and other contracted customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or a related industry and possess the ability to effectively teach both technical competencies and essential workplace (soft) skills while responding to the training needs of business and industry.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Workforce Training Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering workforce training programs that enhance the technical and professional skills of employees, job seekers, and other contracted customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or a related industry and possess the ability to effectively teach both technical competencies and essential workplace (soft) skills while responding to the training needs of business and industry.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Previous experience as a trainer or instructor.
* Proficiency in training materials development.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a variety of training modalities.
* Strong customer service skills and a positive and enthusiastic attitude are essential to the role.
* Ability to learn, demonstrate, and train individuals with varying abilities on a wide range of topics is necessary.
* Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills are essential.
* Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Must be able to work without close supervision.
* Extensive experience in a combination of technical subject matter skills, such as OSHA, LEAN Principles, Maintenance, Electrical, and Supply Chain/Distribution-related topics.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree preferred;
Associate degree accepted; or at least five years of experience in a community college environment and/or training, or equivalent combination of industrial education and experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
* Meet with clients from business and industry to determine customer-focused training needs.
* Write proposals based on customer-focused training needs.
* Design and develop training materials and course content that target tangible results.
* Ensure classroom/labs are set up correctly for the type of training and ensure all resources are in place.
* Implement effective and purposeful training methods.
* Administer training and assess outcomes.
* Create and maintain documentation and reports.
* Perform maintenance and cleanup of training environment and equipment.
* Project a professional image.
* Work with other professionals as a team player, and be committed to the overall success of the division and the College.
* Assist with the collection, review, and submission of all forms and reports to the proper agencies.
* Meet deadlines for reporting.
* Assist in the selection and procurement of instructional materials and supplies and equipment for training programs.
* Complete regular professional development as provided by the College or Division and as available through relevant professional organizations.
* Provide skill-specific training as subject matter expert for other industry sectors, including, but not limited to, transportation, distribution and logistics.
