Scott Colom for Senate is seeking a Deputy Finance Director to support a fast-paced, high-performing fundraising program through Election Day. This role will work closely with the Finance Director, Campaign Manager, candidate, staff, donors, hosts, and volunteers to execute the campaign’s finance plan, manage donor outreach, coordinate call time, support events, and ensure accurate tracking and follow-up across the finance operation.

The ideal candidate has at least two cycles of campaign finance experience, excellent organization and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities under strict deadlines. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, responsive, discreet with sensitive donor information, and comfortable working long campaign hours, including nights and weekends as needed. A sense of humor, a team-first attitude, and the ability to stay calm while juggling several moving pieces are strongly preferred.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Jackson, MS through November 4, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Support the campaign’s call time program, including daily schedules, call sheet review, briefing materials, donor research, pledge tracking, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, contribution tracking, pledge reconciliation, and finance data in NGP, Act Blue, Numero, spreadsheets, and other campaign systems.
  • Monitor progress toward fundraising goals and update projections as needed.
  • Generate fundraising reports and analytics to track donor engagement, call time performance, event progress, and overall finance program performance.
  • Work with Events Manager to plan and execute fundraising events from start to finish, including host outreach, RSVP tracking, venue/vendor coordination, event materials, staffing plans, and day-of logistics.
  • Draft and edit finance materials, including invitations, donor correspondence, thank-you notes, briefing memos, email language, call sheets, event materials, and donor lists.
  • Review finance team deliverables for accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail before approval by the Finance Director.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Director on assignments for Finance Assistants, interns, volunteers, or other junior team members.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive donor, financial, campaign, and personnel information.
  • Staff the candidate, fundraisers, donor meetings, campaign events, and other activities as needed.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Director, Campaign Manager, or campaign leadership.
Qualifications
  • At least two cycles of campaign finance or political fundraising experience required.
  • Experience on a Senate, statewide, congressional, major municipal, or competitive campaign strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing call time, donor tracking, finance data, and fundraising follow-up.
  • Experience planning, staffing, and executing fundraising events from start to finish.
  • Experience managing assistants, interns, volunteers, or junior staff under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities at once.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail; must be a stickler for accuracy, follow-up, and clean data.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism when working with donors, hosts, principals, and sensitive financial information.
  • Comfort working long campaign hours, including nights and weekends as needed through Election Day.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems quickly, and step up wherever needed.
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to contribute to a collaborative campaign environment.
  • Proficiency with NGP, Act Blue, and Pingdex preferred.
  • Access to a cell phone, laptop, valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation required.
