* The nature of this position is "onsite" butwill be domiciled in either Alexander, AR or Jackson, MS. *
* This position can be filled as an Engineer I, II, III or Sr based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. *
This position, in the Operational Models & Support group within Operational Readiness, performs and analyzes operational studies, both steady-state and dynamic. This includes updating real-time contingency analysis models, updating operational planning models, coordinating Transmission and Generation outage plans, coordinating model updates with internal and external stakeholders, forecasting loads, and updating operating guides and procedures.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform updates to operational planning models, real-time contingency analysis models, and real-time dynamic stability models of the transmission system.
- Develop and maintain all real-time advanced applications and processes.
- Perform steady-state load flow and dynamic stability studies in both the Real-Time and Operational Planning horizon. Familiarity with the PSE/E software package and other state of the art load flow and stability packages, such as Power World, State Estimator/Contingency Analysis, VSAT, and TSAT is essential
- Provide technical support to the Transmission Control Center (TCC) through the preparation of real-time advanced applications and support of real-time processes and on steady-state and dynamic power system issues.
- Interface with MISO RTO personnel and other Entergy modeling work groups to ensure the development and coordination of required operational models and real-time tools to support reliable bulk electric system operations. Ensure real-time modeling information is submitted and updated in a timely and accurate manner.
- Interface with load serving entities, regulatory agencies, reliability councils and other transmission providers.
- Represent Entergy on industry wide technical working groups to both advocate for positions favorable to Entergy and ensure industry best practices are understood. Industry forums/organizations include but are not limited to NERC, SERC, MISO and NATF.
- Represent Entergy on industry wide technical working groups.
- Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Computer, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution
- Degree in Engineering Technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from four-year accredited institution, with PE may be considered
- Preferred
: - BS Electrical Engineering Degree with emphasis on power systems
- Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Engineer II: at least 2 - 4 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Engineer III: at least 4 - 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Sr Engineer: at least 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
- Preferred
: - At least 5 years of experience in modeling, system analysis and planning of power systems
- Experience in a power utility or a consulting company

: - Strong written and verbal English communication skills with ability to work in a team environment
- Proficient technical expertise with computer software and database development
- Experience in coding C-Sharp (#) and/or Python
- Skills in engineering analysis, problem solving and condition assessment
