Structural Engineer, Civil Engineering
Position Summary
As a Structural Engineering Professional, you will be an integral member of the design team, counted on to assist in the performance of structural analysis and design for our projects. You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills as you work closely with your Structural Lead, other Structural Engineers and Designers, and other disciplines. You will help develop design concepts, complete the analysis and design, and work with our Designers to get the structural requirements communicated on paper and in the model.
It is expected that you are developing a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Structural Engineering, are gaining experience in multiple subject areas, and are learning how Structural design integrates with and impacts other disciplines. You will be given as much responsibility as you are willing to take, and your opportunities for career growth will be limited only by your own motivation, capabilities, and attitude.
and Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, competently perform all conventional aspects of Structural Engineering and analysis.
- With guidance and direction, develop judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Develop engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, and reach out to others for guidance or confirmation when questions arise.
- Develop knowledge of principles and practices of seismic design, including ability to apply required provisions of the building code.
- Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality control.
- Commit to checking your own work and seeking guidance from peers and seniors when needed.
- Perform calculation checking of other engineers' work.
- Take responsibility for managing workload, meet commitments, and take full ownership of assigned work.
- Own your portion of the structural scope, meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements; identify ill-defined conditions and determine what is needed to meet project and client needs.
- Define your scope and forecast level of effort; identify scope change and escalate to the Structural Lead or Project Manager as needed.
- Recognize when help is needed and seek guidance from peers and senior engineers.
- Work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner with strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Able to perform field walks. This may include climbing ladders, crawling under raised access floors, or walking/standing for extended periods.
- This position is considered hybrid/remote and may require you to work in the nearest local office or from home in the USA Southeast Region (AL, AR, DE, FL, GA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MO, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, VA).
- You may be asked to support work for/in other offices (possibly including Temporary Duty Assignments).
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
- MS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer License.
- Experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
- Experience in semiconductor industrial or general industrial facilities.
- Experience with STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
The base salary range for this position is $74,700.00 to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Health and welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, stock purchase options, and potential eligibility for additional rewards such as merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock.
