Job Summary / Purpose

Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management, construction, and operations activities related to routine, non‑routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root‑cause failure analysis.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Coordinate various substation and transmission line construction projects in different areas of Entergy.
  • Prepare construction contracts, construction schedules, cost tracking, progress reporting, and project team coordination within a strong matrix organization to facilitate safe construction of facilities from 13.8 kV to 500 kV for both internal and external customers.
  • Provide engineering field technical support to substation and transmission line construction crews.
  • Perform technical reviews of substation (electrical and relay controls) and transmission line design packages issued for construction.
  • Participate in planning, scoping, and brainstorming sessions with all applicable departments and a diverse customer base.
  • Continue to participate throughout the entire capital work process by: establishing the sequenced schedule duration of outage, coordination, preparing construction estimates, identifying resources, developing contractual agreements, fostering and policing safety measures, performing quality assurance and control, verifying invoices, completing as‑built, and closing projects.
  • Maintain a safe, quality, and productive work environment in compliance with policies, procedures, specifications, and applicable laws of the local, state, and national agencies.
  • Interface with multiple organizations.
  • Execute functions such as identifying safety hazards, hazard mitigation, environmental stewardship, scope development, estimate development, construction sequencing plans, schedule development, constructability review, material tracking, contract proposals, environmental compliance tactics, schedule coordination, outage coordination, deficiency resolution, quality assurance, cost reporting, issue resolution, and project closure.
  • Allocate time to: 40% support of the capital work management process, 40% compilation of the project and construction execution plan, and 20% field inspection for scoping and adjustments.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four‑year accredited institution.
  • Degrees in engineering technology (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four‑year accredited institution; PE may be considered.
Minimum Experience
  • Engineer II: at least 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer III: at least 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Preferred: power system, relay, or substation experience.
