Transportation Engineering Team Lead
Location:
25 – Hinds County, MS.
The Office of State Aid Road Construction (OSARC) mission is to help Mississippi counties build better roads to the future by administering state and federally funded road and bridge construction projects in accordance with the statutory requirements of Sections 65-9 (1-33) and 65-37 (1-15) of the Mississippi Code of 1972, by providing project planning, review, project oversight, engineering oversight, accounting, contract administration, and information systems for the benefit of each Mississippi county.
ResponsibilitiesThis position is Non‑State Service (X‑16). Advises County Boards of Supervisors, County Engineers, and others on the availability and requirements of State Aid and other funding sources; reviews and oversees the status of funds and other specific funding for each assigned County, including communication to each County as necessary; reviews and recommends to the State Aid Engineer for approval state aid, LSBP, federal aid, and specially funded project programs;
oversees the development of preliminary office review, and final plans for approved projects including design and field plan in hand reviews; oversees and recommends approval of environmental review documents for approved projects; inspects project progress periodically to document status and quality of work; reviews and approves all construction and engineering estimates and documents those payments; conducts final inspections for each project including testing requirements and corrective action items along with the County Engineer or project consultant.
This position will be assigned to the Southwest District, which includes the following:
Adams, Amite, Franklin, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Pike, Walthall, and Wilkinson counties. Performs other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to be Successful:
Successful candidates will need a strong blend of technical expertise in their field, excellent communication skills, problem‑solving abilities, project management skills, decision‑making capabilities, leadership qualities, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, Licensure and 6‑7 years of experience as an Engineer. Agency
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university. Must have a current MS Professional Engineers License (PE) in Civil Engineering, with at least six (6) years' experience in civil engineering.
