Environmental Engineer-in-Training

The Environmental Engineer-in-Training conducts reviews of solid waste management facility permit applications and permit modification requests for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. The position involves coordinating permit reviews, evaluating engineering reports for regulatory compliance, managing public participation processes, and providing guidance to applicants on permitting requirements. The role is based in Hinds County and requires strong analytical and technical writing skills to manage multiple permitting projects simultaneously.

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably with environmental engineering courses
• Certificate of registration as an Engineer in Training from the Mississippi State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers
• Strong analytical, technical writing, and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects
• Experience in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, solid waste management, or civil/environmental engineering
• Ability to review engineering reports, interpret regulations, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
