About the PositionThis is a time limited position. This position is with the MS State Department of Health, Boiler Pressure and Safety Vessel Division in Jackson, MS. This position will serve the Central and Northern Regions of the state.
Job Duties:
Conduct field inspections of boilers and pressure vessels;
Provide technical guidance on repairs;
Submit detailed inspection reports;
Ensure compliance of regulations to provide for safe operating conditions;
Interpret and apply code requirements during field inspections;
Obtain/maintain certification;
Maintain the BPV database and keep inspections current;
Interpret and apply NBBI/ASME code requirements.
Make decisions in the field with minimal supervision. Be knowledgeable of the code books (ASME/NBBI) in determining regulatory issues and resolutions. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good Organizational Skills. Ability to complete reports in a timely manner.
