This is a time-limited (NS-14) position. The Mississippi State Department of Health is seeking a Compliance Inspector Team Lead (Degree) to support the Office of Licensure, Child Care Licensure program in Hinds County.
The position provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and oversight of Child Care Licensure operations and staff. Responsibilities include coordinating workflow and work assignments, supporting regional supervisors and compliance inspectors, monitoring compliance with state and federal regulations, assisting with policy and procedure development, reviewing proposed regulatory and legislative changes, and providing guidance on complex regulatory matters.
The position also assists with staff training and development, performance management, quality assurance, resolution of escalated issues, and process improvement. The incumbent will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and may represent the Office of Licensure at meetings and events.

Clear verbal and written communication skills; effective time management; sound decision-making; demonstrated positive leadership; ability to appropriately delegate responsibilities; strong listening and interpersonal skills; and the ability to interact courteously and professionally with staff, regulated entities, and external stakeholders. Knowledge of child care licensing statutes, rules, regulations, standards, enforcement actions, corrective action processes, compliance requirements, and regulatory follow-up is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5–7 years of relevant experience.
Agency preferred qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in regulatory compliance, inspections, child care licensing, enforcement or corrective action activities, staff leadership, training, quality assurance, or interpretation and application of state or federal regulations.
